1. What can I do with bulky items too large for regular household trash pickup?

Large items such as furniture may be placed curbside for pick up on your first regularly scheduled yard waste collection day. Appliances, electronics and TV's need to be scheduled for pickup on any Wednesday. For safety reasons you are required to remove the doors from refrigerators and freezers before you put them curbside. See our Residential Rates section for specific charges.

2. Will my garbage and recycling be picked up on Holidays?

Garbage and recycling will be picked up on all holidays except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Your garbage and/or recycling will be picked up on your next regularly scheduled pickup day.

3. Will you take old paint cans with my trash?

If the cans are empty and the leftover paint is dry, you may put them in with your garbage. Paint and other hazardous materials can be taken to specific sites in Orange County that are equipped to handle them. 4. How can I get rid of old oil from my car?

Automobile oil is a hazardous material. In addition to the Orange County sites listed in the Household Hazardous Waste section, there are some auto supply stores that will accept used automobile oil. You can call the Orange County Solid Waste Hotline 407-836-6601 for more detailed information.

5. How do I calculate the size of a pile in cubic yards?

Multiply the Width x Height x Length and then divide the total by 27 = number of cubic yards

For example: 4 feet wide x 4 feet high x 6.75 feet (6 feet 9 inches) long divided by 27 = 4 cubic yards

6. How do I dispose of my Christmas tree?

Remove all decorations and tinsel from your Christmas tree and place the tree curbside on your regularly scheduled yard waste day.

7. When should I place my garbage container at the curb?

Containers must be placed curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the collection day to ensure pickup.
Never rely on “usual” collection times to put container curbside.
Routes are not always run by the same driver in the same order.

Containers should be placed curbside no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day prior to collection.
The rollout containers shall be removed as soon as possible after collection, but no later than 9:00 a.m. of the day following collection, or they will be subject to roll back service by City crews and a convenience charge per occurrence will be charged.

8. How do I get rid of my moving boxes?

Collapse the boxes down.
Put them out on your scheduled yard waste pickup day.

9. How do I get rid of my yard trash?

Your yard waste day will vary depending on your address, we have a map on the City website or you may call 407-703-1731.
If they have branches or fronds they should be no more than 4 ft. long and tied in bundles weighing no more than 30 lbs., branches should not be more than 6'' around. Leaves and grass should be bagged or loose in cans, but not the city trash or recycling carts, and not weigh more than 30 lbs.
Otherwise; it is a bulky pick up and if in excess of 4 cubic yards a fee will be assessed.

10. What is this tag attached to my container?

The tags are used by the drivers to help educate customers about the Collection Rules.
The tags are used as reminders about how to place containers at the curb for ease of collection.

11. How do I dispose of my old appliances and electronics?
