Mayor’s Proclamation for November 3, 2020 City Special Election, City of Apopka, FL

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter, and Code of Ordinances of the City of Apopka, Florida, a special election shall be held on November 3, 2020, to elect a Commissioner for Seat 2 to fulfill an unexpired term; and

WHEREAS, the term of office of Commissioner Seat 2 will expire at 12:00 PM on April 26, 2022. it is therefore necessary that a Commissioner for Seat 2 be elected at a special election of the City of Apopka, Florida.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRYAN NELSON, MAYOR of the City of Apopka, Florida, as required by law, do herby proclaim and pronounce that a special election will be held in the City of Apopka, Florida, on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., for the purpose of electing a Commissioner for Seat 2. Voting precincts will be determined by the Orange County Supervisor of Elections.

Early voting will be available through the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office and coincide with their designated sites 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM from Monday, October 19, 2020, through Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Only the voters of the City residing within the City limits who are properly registered with the Orange County Supervisor of Elections, or who will be properly registered by October 5, 2020, may vote in this election.

Candidates for said office must qualify with the City Clerk’s office beginning at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, and ending at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020, at City Hall, 120 E. Main Street, Apopka, Florida.

The Orange County Canvassing Board is hereby authorized to canvass the City of Apopka ballots voted in the November 3, 2020 city special election in compliance with Section 30-26, Apopka Code of Ordinances.

In the event it becomes necessary to have a run-off election, this will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Precinct 9104, Apopka Community Center, 519 South Central Avenue, Apopka, Florida, and Precinct 9204, Northwest Recreation, 3710 Jason Dwelley, Apopka, Florida. Early voting will be available through the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office, 119 West Kaley Street, Orlando, Florida, Monday, November 30, 2020, through Friday, December 4, 2020, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

I, Bryan Nelson, hereby appoint the Canvassing Board for said run-off election as follows: Canvassing Board: City Commissioner, Alexander Smith, City Commissioner, Kyle Becker, Election Clerk, Linda Goff

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Apopka, Florida, to be affixed and attested by the Deputy City Clerk of Apopka, this 5th day of August, 2020.
