City of Apopka Highlights for October 2022
National Night Out
Thank you to our Apopka Police Department for another successful National Night Out event held this year at the Silver Oaks subdivision! National Night Out is a nationwide event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighbors getting to know each other in an effort to make our neighborhood communities safer.

Employee Recognition
An employee service recognition ceremony was held prior to our Council meeting to honor employees with milestone employment anniversaries from our Police, Fire, and Public Services.

Police Ride Along
Mayor Nelson participated in a ride along with the Apopka Police Department in downtown Apopka on bikes.

Breast Cancer Awareness
October was Breast Cancer Awareness month and the City participated in the awareness campaign by lighting City Hall and Martin's Pond pink.

Grand Opening for Morenas Latin Bar and Grill

Walk for Freedom
Thanks to our Apopka Police Department for their assistance with the Walk for Freedom event. Walk for Freedom is a global event designed to bring awareness to human trafficking.

Lake Apopka Eco-Bike Ride
To celebrate Mobility Week 2022, the City hosted an eight-mile bike ride at the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive.

World Polio Day
The City participated in World Polio Day, an awareness campaign about Polio vaccinations, by lighting City Hall red.
